Fort Worth, TX — August 17, 2025 — On a hot and humid Sunday afternoon, the Eastwood neighborhood lit up with energy as the annual 817 Block Party took over East Berry Street. Opening the Stage with Southern Soul

The show launched with an unforgettable performance from Arlington legend Gylo and Dallas’s own Money Waters, who set the vibe with their trending Southern Soul anthem “Country Girl.” Their set was equal parts smooth and powerful, instantly pulling the crowd in and giving the Metroplex a soundtrack to remember.

The Soundtrack of Funkytown

Once the stage was primed, the block itself became an instrument. DJ Big Bink and DJ TDK took over the 1’s and 2’s, cutting and scratching with precision, blending Texas classics with fresh new vibes. MC Slick Nick and the Reunion Radio Family kept the mic lit, energizing the crowd and making sure no one’s spirit fell short.

Rising Stars & Viral Moments

From there, the spotlight shifted to the new generation. Bag Baby Tay, carrying the 817 proudly, delivered a performance full of grit, charm, and determination, cementing her status as one of Funkytown’s rising stars. Then came a defining moment: Jhonnie Damn D, riding high off his viral hit “Murda Bend”, stepped onto the stage with OG Twisted Black to shoot the video for their latest anthem “Funkytown.” The crowd turned electric — phones out, voices raised, and energy surging. The chemistry between Jhonnie and Twisted Black wasn’t just performance; it was unity on display, bridging old-school legend with new-school fire. The block roared, and the vibe could only be described as crazy.

Community, Cars & Culture

Beyond the music, the 817 Block Party was about togetherness. Food trucks like Fried City Eats, Boneyard BBQ, and Messy Bestie’s Lemonade filled the air with hometown flavors, while kids bounced in inflatable castles and families danced under the Texas sun. Classic Chevys, candy-painted Slingshots, Corvettes, and Lamborghinis lined Berry Street, shining like trophies of southern pride.

A Celebration of Unity

From Fort Worth to Arlington to Grand Prairie, the turnout showed what happens when a city comes together. The 817 Block Party wasn’t just another summer gathering — it was Funkytown proving that when the DJs scratch, the MCs speak, and the artists unite, the culture thrives. This was more than an event; it was a snapshot of Fort Worth’s soul.
